When you realize that you were not doing it as well as you thought you were you realize that you need to do it differently to benefit from it.
You have to be HONEST with yourself and let the FACTS tell the TRUTH to be the BEST you that you can be.
The older I get the more HONEST I am with myself to make the best decisions for myself.
Like LEARNING how important WALKING is to your overall WELL BEING.
I kept telling myself that just WALKING around the house and going to do my weekly errands was a good HEALTHY AMOUNT of WALKING.
Then I looked up on the internet what was a good HEALTHY AMOUNT.
To my surprise the average article estimated that 10,000 STEPS a day was a good HEALTHY AMOUNT.
Well my UNCLE decided to buy several of us a PEDOMETER so we could gather the TRUE FACTS about just how many STEPS we really WALKED each day.
It wasn't as if I wanted or thought I needed a PEDOMETER but I said okay THANKS, I will let you know when it arrives.
As I waited for it to come, my UNCLE sent me photos of the amount of STEPS on his PEDOMETER after each of his ROUTINE CHORES.
He measured many of his DAILY ROUTINE CHORES, like WALKING to his mailbox and back .
He measured his STEPS going down to his basement to do ONE load of laundry.
Turns out each of these DAILY ROUTINE CHORES were less than a couple HUNDRED STEPS.
When you realize that you only do laundry two times a week and you only check the mail a maximum of six days a week, that is a TRUE FACT that you got to take LONGER WALKS ON PURPOSE to be HEALTHY.
SO I put on my PEDOMETER and measured each of my ROUTINE CHORES to get the FACTS and be HONEST with myself.
And OMG, I have been telling myself that I WALKED THOUSANDS of STEPS each day, which turned out to be a BIG FAT LIE.
Even when I add the STEPS I took at the grocery store once a week, I was no where near the DAILY HEALTHY 10,000 STEPS recommended.
SO I know I have to be HONEST WITH MYSELF.
First thing that I am changing is I need to QUIT looking for the closest parking spot when I go to ANY STORE because I need to WALK as many STEPS as I can, every chance I can.
I don't know that I will be able to WALK 10,000 STEPS EVERY DAY but every STEP I add on a CONSISTENT BASIS, is a STEP in the right direction to being HEALTHIER.
If you aren't HONEST with yourself then you are LYING TO YOURSELF, PERIOD.
