You have to put yourself first in order to be able to help someone else

You may have a big heart and love to help others but if you don't take care of your own needs first them you won't be able to help anyone. No matter what you wish you could do you can only do what you can. Spreading yourself out too thin helping someone will leave you treading on thin ice that can break drowning both of you. Make sure you are on solid ground and your feet are planted firmly first then throw them a life preserver and pull them to safety. Putting yourself first doesn't make you selfish it means that you are not foolish. Take care of yourself so you can be there to help those around you when they really need your help.
