Seeing it in person makes it more personal
As the flood waters go down you are able to get through the roads that had been blocked. Although you had heard about all the damage in the neighborhoods you are shocked at the wide spread tragedies that you see. They showed a couple yards in a neighborhood with downed trees but when every house on a road have giant trees laying in their yards it feels like you are in twilight zone. You have to drive around trees that block the road. You see some trees that have fallen on their houses or cars. It makes you think about having some of the large trees in your yard that you had always loved cut down. The powerful storms that can blow in at any time makes you see them now as missles aimed right at your house. The news only has time to show you a peek at the wide spread tragedies that are left from the devastation from hurricanes. Street after street you see damage as you are finally able to drive. As you sit in the restraunt eating you have to wander what those eating around you may be dealing with themselves. There are millions of stories from the millions of people affected from hurricane Irma that we will never hear.
