Even the most optimistic people have to deal with a negative thought that streams in their mind but upon recognizing it as such they "JUST FLUSH IT" out of their mind at a quick glance before it can do any damage. It won't happen over night but you can get in the Habit of Flushing the negative thoughts as they pop up in your mind. Although the negative thought might keep popping up again and again you can get in the Habit of Flushing them as they come. You can't stop the negative thoughts from popping up but you can STOP and "Just Flush It" before it can do any damage.
