If you want to explain it to them in a way they will understand just help them picture it in a way they can see it.
If they can't see a possible way they can do it then they won't bother wasting their time or energy trying to do it.
Their point of view is the only view they can see unless you show them a different point of view to look at.
If they only see it from one point of view they will only have that view to base their opinion of it on.
It reminds of the time my creative writing teacher gave us the assignment of describing a painting to a blind man.
You can't describe it as a color because they have never seen color.
You can't describe the scene because they have never seen anything to compare it to.
Then I said do you know what it feels like when you feel comfortable and relaxed?
Well that is what it looks like.
If you want anyone to see the picture then show them in a way that they can see it.
