Social distancing is necessary but you can still be social

Although we must have social distancing that doesn't mean you can't still be social. It's hard to see if someone is smiling when they are wearing a mask, but you can still see it in their eyes. You can still say thank you while wearing a mask. As road construction is still going on, you can make someone smile by letting them have space to get over in the open lane. And pandemic or not don't forget to wave when someone let's you in the lane. I let three people in today in the mile drive and only one of them waved to say thank you. Surely they appreciated it but why didn't the other two drivers wave to show it? Times are tough but a little kindness goes a long way all the time, but especially nowadays. Be kind to everyone you see while you are keeping your distance. I have gotten more phone calls from family and friends in the past six weeks then I had in the past six years. It has been awesome to hear their voices instead of a quick text. A text doesn't give you the social bonding like a phone call does. I hope that even when things get back to "normal" that they call from time to time because that has been one change that I have enjoyed. I hope the humanity that this pandemic has brought to us all lasts forever. Some changes we have all had to make have made this world a better place. Even from a distance you can see the human compassion that is everywhere. Be kind to everyone you meet because you have no idea what they may be facing. A little bit of kindness goes a long way. A smile says peace in any language even if you only see it in their eyes.
