Don't let it stink up your future too
Even after you finally get over something the thought may pop in your mind again and again trying to "grab your attention." You will have to get in the habit of just flushing them as they come. Don't let them stick around long enough to do any damage. When others bring it up you must simply tell them you have already flushed it out of your mind and you don't want to talk about it. If you keep it fresh on your mind then it will have a negative effect on you. It is bad enough when it happened but the more times you think about it the more damage it can cause. Don't let what happened in your past stink up your future too.
