I am too young to be so old
Growing up I thought you didn't feel old until you were almost seventy. But I realize now it happens when you turn fifty. My father in-law told me that one day when he was fifty he looked in the mirror and saw an old man looking back at him. I too looked in the mirror and said oh my you look like you are fifty years old. And I bust out laughing because I was fifty. He was also right about feeling in your mind that you were still a teenager. He told me this thirty years ago, when I was still in my twenties. He just didn't tell me that your body hurt like you were old. I am telling you this so if you are still young you know what to expect. So by the time you turn fifty make sure you do all the physically demanding things you want to do because when you are old you can't physically do them. When you buy your forever home make sure you don't have a bunch of stairs because you will have trouble climbing them. Build on a mother in-law suite so when you are old and you don't want to take care of a big house or need help you can live in it. Don't collect a bunch of stuff either because then you are overwhelmed with junk you don't need or want to deal with. Your family doesn't want to have to do something with all the junk you have spent decades collecting either. I tried to get mine to take anything they wanted of my collections now so I could get rid of it, but they didn't want any of it. I have seen family members throw their parents belongings in the trash after they passed away. I couldn't believe they didn't at least take it to Goodwill so someone else could enjoy the junk. And I have to admit I myself am tired of all the junk I have. Unfortunately I can't bring myself to just drag it to the Goodwill. I don't know why because I don't want it. I wish I would have collected money or jewelry instead of Knick knacks. That for sure my family would want. Heck even I would want it. But all this pottery, glass, and trinkets are just junk that nobody wants, not even me. Because all your collections will be junk that collects dust that one day you will be to old to want to dust them.
