How can it still be happening a half of a century later?
When I was young my parents and grandparents used to talk about the road construction crews standing around all day. They would take years to do a 2 mile long stretch of road. They watched their taxes go up to pay for it and their patience grow thin with all the congested traffic it caused. Here it is a half of a century later and you can see them standing around just talking as you slowly navigate through the construction areas. As I started my errands past the construction areas to get around, I saw four groups of workers within a half a mile of each other standing around just talking. Some had their hands in their pockets. As I came back through the construction area there they were the same four groups still standing in the same spots two hours later just talking. There is no doubt that me and my family are not the only ones who sees them getting paid good money and good benefits to stand around and talk. We need to put cameras on these work sites to see how much time and money our city can save by only paying them for the actual hours they are working.
