Will you know if the sun is shining?

Your "point of view" will determine your reality. If you believe something is true then no matter what someone may say or do it will still be true in your mind. If you close your mind to even the proven facts then the fact is that it will remain true to you. If you open your mind you just might find that it is not the facts that are making your reality so gloomy but your "point of view" that is keeping your reality so gloomy. The sun may be shining but if you convince yourself that it's cold outside and you don't look outside to see then you will spend your day inside to avoid the cold.
