You have to let go of the painful experiences in your past to get back up and moving again. But at the same time you can't forget what you learned from your past experiences in order to avoid experiencing them again. There is a difference between remembering them and reliving them. You can remember that it was a painful experience without experiencing the pain again. Your life experiences, both the good and the bad, are part of what shaped who you are TODAY. Your past doesn't define you but it does mold you into who you become. You can't change the past but you can change your future by what you learned from your past. If you remember something that you enjoyed doing then make a plan to do it again. If you remember something that hurt you, let that be a reminder not to ever do it again. We all make mistakes in life but a wise man never makes the same mistake twice.
