I feel your pain

As I glance around the waiting room my eyes can see your pain as you wait your turn. No one seems to notice as they are waiting all around you. Conversations between them can be heard but your silent pain keeps screaming and that is all I can think of. I have tried to distract your pain by greeting you with a smile but I can see it hasn't helped much. I will rejoice with you when they call your name and finally take you back and ease your pain.

Help them keep their sanity

In this economy reaching out to help others means more than a helping hand. It just might be the life preserver that gets them through one more day. Giving something as simple as a kind word or a smile may be all they need to get out of the mental rut they are in. Take a moment to help if you can, give if you have it. Being kind will teach the habit of humanity and stop some from losing their sanity.

Don't dig a deeper hole

Sometimes what you do for instant gratification or temporary relief can have permanent consequences. You won't get very far in reaching your goals in life if you have to keep cleaning up after your shortcuts or shortcomings. Things that could have been avoided by simply not reacting till you have taken the time to think it through. Sometimes taking one tiny step in the right direction will get you further than three steps forward that can only lead you to a bigger, deeper, and rougher hole than the one you are in now.

How will you start your day?

Today is a new day, start the day how you want. How you think about it determines how you live it. If you have a headache and you don't take anything for it you'll have a headache all day. If you take medicine in the morning it will go away and not affect your day. If you do all you can to ensure a smooth day from the start, your day has a chance to go smoothly. Start your day in a positive way.

Don't wait on the storm

I could see the dark rainclouds slowly blowing in. I did not want to get caught in the rain. So I would wait for them to pass before leaving to do errands. I kept looking outside and listening for the rain. Soon I had waited so long for the storm that never blew in that it was too late to do errands. Don't worry about a storm in your personal life that may or may not come your way.

Somethings you don't need

This economy will open the eyes of the upper class who now have to struggle with a lower class income. There was a time where they could afford whatever they wanted. Now they can't afford what they need. When the economy recovers and they can afford what they want I hope they reach out to help others get the basics they need. With their eyes now wide open they have seen things that they had hoped to never see. Things you use to want you know now you don't need.

Go above and beyond

There is more to being a preacher than knowing the scriptures. There is more to being a teacher than giving them a book. There is more to being a good neighbor than living in a neighborhood. There is more to being a parent than having a child. There is more to being alive than merely existing. In order to be the best you can be you must do your best at whatever it is you choose to do. Going above and beyond is a job well done.

Do your homework

When someone said "you won't know until you try it" they didn't mean try it if you know it can't be done. Just like you wouldn't apply for a job teaching Spanish if you don't know how to speak Spanish. Taking chances in life is natural and necessary but not if you know you have no chance at all. Doing your homework is necessary even after you get out of school.

Create your own "Peace of Mind"

Being creative in this economy means more than creating something. Being creative enough to manage the bills and keep your sanity is being smart. Finding ways to feed your family is being thrifty. Creating "Peace of Mind" for yourself by learning how to "Just Flush It" if you can is priceless.

A sigh of relief

Can you imagine what it would feel like to breathe a sigh of relief after you have flushed away a present or past problem that was weighing heavy on your mind? Try it. Start by picking one thing that you have carried around for years and "Just Flush It." Little things like a comment someone made that you can't let go of even though whoever said it forgot a minute after they said it. When you get rid of all the "little things" you'll breathe a sigh of relief that will refresh you so you can deal with the "big things."

The right frame of mind

If you want to keep your sanity don't do anything that you know is insane. If you wouldn't do it in when you were "in your right frame of mind" then don't do it when your "in a bad frame of mind." You may try to plead insanity for what you did wrong but it is what you did wrong that will drive you insane. If you know it's crazy then don't be crazy and do it.

Pick and choose your battles

You can't fight for everything so pick and choose your battles. Pick what will matter based on what you need not what you want. If you need it then it is worth fighting for. If you don't then save your strength to win the war. If it is important enough to fight for then it's important enough to make sure what you do is done right. Don't pick a battle you know you can't win.

A simple thank you and a smile

The simple words "Thank You" make you feel as good saying it as it does to the person that you say it to. It's a release of peace for a brief moment for both of you. In the good old days it was as common as smiling. Which neither seems to be so common anymore. Bring back the habit of kindness with a simple thank you or a smile. It is only a habit if you do it everyday.
