A square doesn't roll very well

The Circle of Life. Now that I am older the more meaning that saying has. There are many things I wish I would have done differently. The relationships I wish I would have built up if only I knew at a young age how important they would be yet it is too late. Some have either passed away or I have realized time and events have closed doors to their hearts. As you age you are not wiling to open up to others because it leaves you vulnerable if you open up. To protect yourself you have to stick to what you know and who you know has your best interest at heart. As you go through Life build close bonds and relationships to keep those you care about in your inner circle. When the Circle gets broken it doesn't allow you to roll through Life as smoothly it becomes a bumpy square.

Make "room" for it

Have you ever had a conversation with someone and realized that they were their own worst enemy? Their way of thinking about things in a vicious cycle of negative thoughts keep them from even seeing when something positive is right in front of them. But no matter how hard you try to get them to see that it is there they are just too consumed by negative thoughts. When your mind is full of negative thoughts there is no "room" for a positive thought to get in. You have to flush them out of your mind to make "room." "Peace of Mind" really is just a flush away. Don't be your worst enemy. Learn how to "Just Flush It."

Not in your best interest

It is a hard decision when someone you love reaches out for your help but is not in your best interest to reach back. There comes a point when you have to realize that letting them hurt you knowing that you can not help them that they can only help themselves helps no one but does damage to you and others around you. To decide to save yourself so that you can be there for them and others later is in the best interest of everyone. Before you can save anyone you have to save yourself.

Put yourself in better circumstances

You may not have had a choice to be in the circumstances you are in but you still have a choice of how you will react to the circumstances you have to deal with. How you react will decide the outcome not the circumstance you are facing. The circumstances are sometimes necessary to get you thinking in a different direction. In the fast paced times we live in we get ourselves into situations because we don't slow down long enough to stay on track which causes the circumstance that forces you to stop and think about how to react to get back on the right track. Every circumstance you have to face is a chance to make a better circumstance for yourself to live with.

Make up your mind

"It's just mind over matter." Now there is a statement we have all heard. When you are doing a task and become exhausted that little saying will help you find the strength to finish the task. It doesn't matter how close you are to giving up if your mind tells the rest of your body to keep going it will. The mind is a very powerful thing. If in your mind you know you can do it then you can see yourself doing it and you can do it. If on the other hand all you do is keep negative thoughts in your mind that you can't do it then you won't because you will never try. The circumstances that you may be facing may make it harder but you can't blame the circumstance for making your mind up to not even try.

Show them not just tell them

You can give someone all the "tools" they need but if they don't know how to use the "tools" they are useless to them. First you have to make them see that they need a "tool" before they will even be interested in how to use the "tools" and why they are necessary. It's like you can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink it. Telling someone what they should do if they are not listening is a waste of your time and theirs. Showing them how the "tool" works and what it allows you to do will make them interested in learning what it is and how it could work in their Life. Remember if they can't see what is right in front of them then they won't no matter how many times you tell them. Tell them and they may not remember but show them and they will never forget.

May you now find peace of mind Mr. Robin Williams

It's hard to quit thinking about the death of Robin Williams. He was so good at making other people laugh and forget about their problems for a brief moment. Yet deep inside his mind there was great turmoil that was so dark that he couldn't see the bright light that shined from him that the rest of us were enlightened by. You never know what issues people are facing all any of us can do is be kind to everyone you meet. To all of us looking at him we saw someone who was rich, famous, who was always smiling and to us he had it made. But being mentally healthy is necessary in Life no matter who you are. Trouble is it is hard to know what is inside the mind of someone and see they have no room for "Peace of Mind" to get in. May you now find "Peace of Mind" Mr. Robin Williams.

Whether you are young or old

Back to school time. Sure seems like the school year is a lot longer then those in the past. Back then it was out by Memorial Day and didn't return until After Labor Day. We had nearly a month less school. The first few days are stressful until they get the hang of it. Unless they are in kindergarten all other students have realized by now that no matter how much they don't want to go they got to go. They have already learned what adults face daily that if you got to do it then "Just Do It" because that's Life. You learn that at a young age and whether you are young or old when you start thinking of all the reasons you don't want to do it you got to "Just Flush It" out of your mind because you "Got to do whatever you got to do" that's just Life.

It really is all in how you look at it

Apparently that giant tree that shades my driveway had become a Butterfly Sanctuary. For days my car would be covered with twenty or so caterpillars trying to get to that tree. As I drove my son to school they would fly off into the wind miles away from the sanctuary. As I looked up into the tree I could see every stage of a caterpillar cycle. With so many caterpillars crawling about and so many cocoons tightly stuck to the branches I almost wanted to run away. Just then I could see the flutter of butterfly wings still hovering under the shade of the tree. The bright vivid colors were mesmerizing and the cocoons were invisible turning my caterpillar invasion into a peaceful relaxing sanctuary to enjoy. Turns out it really is all in how you look at it.

A Medical Degree should require you to be "Human"

What a difference it makes when "Humans" work at a Doctors office. We literally put our Lives in their hands and when you have to usually deal with those that don't have the biggest Human component called compassion to treat us humanely that is frightening. There should be more to earning such an important education in the Medical Field than going to school racking up student loans for a lot of years and passing all the written test. We need to find a test to determine if they are "Human." If they don't have a compassion for Human Beings then do us all a favor and Don't give them the Degree.

It's possible if you make it possible

Accepting what you can not change and the courage to change what you can along with the wisdom to know the difference has been and always will be the Key to Happiness. Very Simply put "It is what it is" so "Just Flush It" and figure out what you can do and "Just Do It." Searching for the answers to "Why" something happened or "How" it could have even happened is wasted energy. That energy needs to be spent on "how to" Learn what you need to so that it doesn't happen again and by focusing on what you have to do to make Happiness possible.

Even a guiness can be foolish

As time goes on what I have learned has helped get me where I am yet I now have to learn what is necessary to get where I need to go now. There are many different phases throughout your Life's Journey and with each phase there is a whole new set of lessons to learn. What you must learn in each phase is not known until you get to that phase. Every phase has it's challenges that you will learn how to navigate through. Trouble comes when someone thinks they are so wise that they don't need to learn more. You could be one of the smartest people in the World yet be foolish and learn the hard way the Life Lessons necessary for each phase of Your Life.

It's to keep you from being hungry

I recently realized that it is possible to believe something simply because someone told you facts that were not true. Here I am years later when I find out the truth I realize that my actions were based on what I thought were facts. Turns out the fact is I can not change the outcome of my actions. What I can do is learn the lesson that if I believe it without conforming it that would be like believing you can't walk just because someone said it and using a wheelchair without ever standing up to see if you can walk. The facts they were feeding you were just to keep you from being hungry for the facts.
