What will your New Year's resolution really mean?

We all make New Year's resolutions but most of the time they are words that are never followed by action. A new car won't start unless you use the key and turn it on. Even then you have to also put it in drive while pushing the brake. You still won't get anywhere until you let off the break and push the gas. Yet we forget that it will take many steps to achieve our resolutions. Keep your resolutions simple because you simply won't do it if you are unrealistic about what you can do. Traveling is dangerous on New Year's Eve so consider celebrating safely at home. If you decide to go out make your first resolution that you will make arrangements to get home safely. Happy New Year Everyone!

You never know how many tomorrows you will have to enjoy.

Heat and enjoy

What a wonderful holiday weekend it has been. Clean up was even fairly simple. And the leftovers have been such a breeze to just pick and choose what to heat and enjoy. Its more variety to choose from than any other time of year. The desserts are given just as much attention as the dinner itself. As the visions of all the grandkids smiling faces dance in my head I get to sit back and relax nibbling all the tasty treats. While I ponder what the New Year will bring.

A cook is never hungry

The smell of Christmas is all through my house as the baking has begun. Tomorrow we will all gather to relax around the table and enjoy our holiday feast. The grandkids nibble as they excitedly talk about what they hope to get for Christmas. They will be up bright and early with anticipation. Getting them to eat when we gather for our Christmas breakfast when all they can think about is playing with their presents will be a challenge. I must admit I myself have a couple of their presents that I am excitedly waiting to play with them. Because Christmas brings out the kid in all of us. Merry Christmas everyone.

Now its time to kick iit n high gear

Shopping was the easy part and wrapping was a lot of fun. But now it's time to clean and get ready for everyone to come. Get  the Christmas music playing to make the cleaning more enjoyable. And when you sit down to take a break you can enjoy the cheerfully decorated packages that brighten up the room. Visions of the smiling faces as they open their gifts dance in your mind until suddenly you realize breaks over time to get up and get things done. Soon St. Nick will be here.

Now I can tell them it is less than a week away than a week away

My grandkids have asked me how many days is it till Christmas since before Thanksgiving. Finally I could tell them today that it was less than a week away. Those words brought a look of surprise as you could watch their faces get plump and red as their grin grew. It was a magical moment that warms your heart. We all look forward to Christmas but a child looks forward to moments they have been dreaming about that soon will be here. Watching their faces on Christmas day is a present that is for you to enjoy the reason for the season.

Freaky Friday

Today is freaky Friday because its a Saturday. I got so busy yesterday that the next thing I knew it was Saturday. Traffic is getting all jammed up as people are rushing out to finish their Christmas shopping. Remember that if you can't afford to buy it then don't. Or you will have no Christmas joy knowing you will be making payments that you can't afford. There is joy in giving but not if you give gifts that hurt you financially. Expect the traffic jams that come during the Christmas season to stay holly and jolly as you drive in them.

You turn an everyday battle into a war.

You may not always have a choice about what circumstances you must face in your lifetime but you can choose how you react to them. Your attitude towards them will either make things harder on yourself or help you make the best of the situation you are in. It is what it is but it is also what you make of it. Just like the old saying says "When life gives you lemons you can make lemonade". The right attitude will allow you to see the right way to handle the circumstances you are dealt in Life. A bad attitude will only allow your anger to block your view causing your situation to go from bad to worse. You can be your worst enemy by turning a battle you have to face into a war you can not possibly win.

What are you counting?

Everyone here is counting down the days till Christmas. They are also counting presents. One thing that doesn't change with the younger ones is they look to see who has the biggest present. The older ones know their little packages cost a lot. The little ones also count each persons packages to see if everyone has the same amount. Most importantly we count our blessings. The best thing about Christmas is the holly jolly feeling last all month. It's not about how many gifts you get nor how big they are not even really what they are its all the love and joy that fills the air as we spend time together with those we love. I myself am counting on a gift from my husband and will sure be looking for the shape of the box to see if he got it. We are all a kid at heart and the magic of Christmas lets the kid in all of us come out.

Fresh is not always better.

There are some foods that taste best when they are fresh. Some you can only eat if they are fresh because otherwise they will make you sick. A fresh look at something can reveal what was there all along. But when a negative thought pops up front and center in your mind, you have to quickly Just Flush It out of your mind. This is an example when keeping something fresh on your mind by continually thinking about it is dangerous! We all struggle from time to time with a negative thought that repeatedly pops up. How quickly you FLUSH IT OUT determines whether it has any chance of making you mentally and physically sick! JUST FLUSH IT so it can't stay fresh on your mind because fresh in this case will make you sick.

Always a mess

Well it's obvious my Lab Marlee will never outgrow causing a mess at Christmas time. I have spent three years trying to prevent her from eating my decorations and presents. But She did it again. The first few times it was only items that only cost a few dollars. But today it was game system games and they are not cheap. But luckily she only unwrapped them but didn't eat them. But my son and I both walked in at the same time and the surprise for his Christmas gifts was ruined. I think our Christmas tree and presents are going to have to be set up out in the game room in our house even though it is not comfortable for the family to gather it has a door that remains shut to keep everything comfortably safe from Marlee.

A highway through a small town

For the past two years they have been working on making a two lane road leading to our town into four lanes going each direction going right through our quiet little town. Half of our little shops have closed down so why do they need to put a highway for more traffic. The quiet drive has turned into construction debris for miles and miles. Which definitely is not pleasant to look at nor drive through. Sure brings the line in an old song to mind which said they paved paradise and put in a parking lot. We need the trees to breathe not a super highway.

How can anyone ignore what is right in front of their face?

For example medical facilities do not even try to hide overcharging insurance companies for procedures, equipment and medicines. Like if you self pay for an MRI it is $270 but if you have insurance they bill them up to $1,600 for the same procedure. Now I can see why insurance cost so much. But how can they blatantly get away with that? Although some things are cheaper without insurance it could cost you your life if you need surgery because without insurance they won't perform surgery. There has to be a complete overhaul of our medical system. It's not just in medical where price gouging happens. Screws that cost only a few dollars cost our military hundreds of dollars. It is written in black and white on the invoice yet the military pays it. All around us we see things happening that are outrageously wrong yet it is ignored allowing it to become the norm. What happened to common sense? My friend's dog died when she bought a different brand of dog food. When she looked the food up on the internet there were thousands of pet owners who's beloved pet died after just one day of eating it. Yet it is still on the market being sold in stores. How is that even possible? It's time we all stand up for what is right and stop all this nonsense we see right in front of our faces.
