Doing something for someone else is good for you

When you help someone else when you don't have to, it makes not only them feel good, you feel good. It's hard to describe just how good you feel about yourself. It's so refreshing to know you made a positive difference in someone's life. Sometimes when you are always doing something for your family and friends it feels more like an obligation to help those you love. But when you show kindness to a complete stranger that you don't know and will probably never see again, that is an amazing feeling. Of course it is just as amazing to the stranger you help. I remember being short ten cents at a store and told the cashier to take off one of my items and the Lady behind me in line handed me a dime and said here that isn't necessary, I can help. Now a dime doesn't seem like much but it brought tears to my eyes. I had a little money in the bank but I was trying to stay on budget. I just was so overwhelmed with emotion that she cared enough to help me. Especially when many people in this World seems so cruel and uncaring towards each other. You don't have to solve someone's problem to help them. It doesn't have to cost money even. Just having compassion and acting on it to make a positive difference can make all the difference in the world. Just a kind word, or a smile, or holding the door open for someone can have a positive effect on them. A random act of kindness goes a long way. I would like to thank Mr. Mike for his kind words I got in his email this morning, it definitely was nice to find and started my day off in an inspiring way. Be kind to everyone you meet because you have no idea what they may be facing.
