They notice the differences

The older my grandkids get the more they notice what is going on. And the older they get the older I feel. When they were younger they saw and heard everything but they didn't notice or listen to most of what was going on around them. For instance they didn't notice until they were older that my teenage son found his "Easter Basket" in the living room. Yet the Easter Bunny had always left theirs outside. When they did notice and ask me about it, I tried to think quick on my feet to come up with an answer that wouldn't make them doubt the Easter Bunny. Thank goodness I thought of an answer. I told them that their family was so big and the fact that people sleep downstairs and upstairs, he would wake someone up if he went inside. I got a couple of strange looks from them then they said oh so that is why, and went off to play. The magic and joy of Santa, the tooth fairy and the Easter Bunny are what makes a childhood special. I know one day they will find out the truth, but for now, I managed to come up with an answer that kept the magic and joy for at least another year. I was thinking about sneaking over early on Easter morning and put random stuff outside to make their parents stop for at least a second and wonder if there really was an Easter Bunny that left it.
